2018 Upper School Sports Day
On the morning of Friday the 27th of April the Upper-School had their annual sports day in the school field. The pupils wore colours to represent Duarte (red), Sanchez (yellow) and Mella (blue), and competed for their house. The boys and girls competed in three age categories across a variety of events including cross-country around the coast road of Central Romana, sprints and team events such as an obstacle course race and tug of war. A special assembly will present these pupils with medals and the Sports Day Trophy to the winning house, Duarte. The teachers also enjoyed their day outside of the classroom undertaking roles such as line officials and score keepers, with many parents spectating from the shade.
A special mention should go to the Grade 11 who helped greatly in the organisation of the day in the weeks building up and on the day itself. They assisted in a multitude of roles including as captains who would sign up their fellow pupils for each race and as well as assisting staff in their roles. The next upper school sports day has already been scheduled for the next academic year in January 2019.
Some honorable mentions to Abdias Cordero for winning not only the Cross Country, but also the 200m race and Jarlin Pimentel, who won both the 100m and 200m races.
