Student opportunities

The Hogar del Nino program affords Grade 12 students an opportunity to broaden their skills and horizons. Building upon the success of last year, students have devised a number of different lessons they will deliver to students in Grades 1-4, in order to improve and develop their English language skills.

    At hogar Students are able to develop skills such as:

  • Evaluating
  • Reflecting
  • Organisation
  • Communication
  • Inter-personal
  • Collaboration
  • Grade 12 students have also developed an increasing appreciation as to how their conduct and manner not only reflects upon the school as a whole, but can be used to improve the livelihoods of those who are less fortunate

Club and activities

Soccer

Abraham Lincoln’s main sport is football. The teams are divided into Senior Girls and Boys and Junior Girls and Boys. The school participates in competitions throughout the year with different schools from around the country. Throughout the year teams also play games within house groups and the occasional friendly game against the teachers!

Volleyball

Abraham Lincoln also has a Senior Boys and Girls volleyball team. The school competes in games and competitions against other schools from around the country on a regular basis. Abraham Lincoln has a strong tradition in volleyball with the senior girls team becoming national champions in 2012.

Basketball

Upper school students also form the Abraham Lincoln basketball team. The basketball team has the opportunity to participate in numerous tournaments all year round including the national finals in the capital Santo Domingo.

Baseball

Students in the upper school can also be part of the baseball team who train regularly during the baseball season. The baseball team participate in regional and national competitions.

National Competitions

Als Volleyball Team Wins Nationals

After hard work and dedication the school volleyball team managed to qualify for the Dominican Republic national competitions. The girls team played the best from around the Dominican Republic and came out eventual winners in 2012.

Als Basketball Team Attend Nationals

The Varsity senior girls basketball team participated in the 2013 Dominican Republic National Competition, finishing second overall.
